CAN YOU VISUALLY DIFFERENTIATE AN FSC PAPER FROM A NON-LABELLED PAPER?
Actually, the two papers have exactly the same technical characteristics. The only thing that can be distinguished is the condition of their place of origin: with FSC, you are guaranteed that the forest from which the wood comes is managed responsibly while maintaining an ecological, social and economic aspect.
At Eurodividers, we care about the future and are FSC certified.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an international multi-criteria ecolabel that guarantees the responsible origin of wood and paper.
850 members of social, economic and environmental organisations set up this NGO (Non-Governmental Organization).
Present in more than 100 countries, this organisation ensures the maintenance of the forest ecosystem and the related forest functions: protection of forest resources, fight against damage and pollution, protection of soils against deterioration… FSC not only respects the environment, but also the people who work and live there: it guarantees safe and fair conditions for forest workers and local people.
Forests are essential: they clean water, purify the air, protect biodiversity, provide habitat for species and therefore have a role in reducing the impacts of climate change.
Forest conservation also helps to preserve water catchment areas, act as a buffer against avalanches and maintain habitats for protected species.
Consequently there is a need to balance the harvesting of forest resources with the need to ensure the integrity of natural cycles.
- FSC-certified forests are responsibly managed forests: the trees cut down come from only one part of the forest and every care is taken to preserve the plants and animals. The local population is respected as well as the workers in the regions concerned.
- The virgin fibres are found in the cellulose pulp, which comes directly from the wood
- Recycled fibres:
- Post-consumer: from pallets, wooden furniture, magazines
- Pre-consumer: from industrial waste or unsold goods
- Controlled origin fibres have minimum provenance requirements: no illegal logging, no deforestation, no genetically modified trees.
The FSC mixed label is a mixture of fibres from different origins: it contains at least 70% FSC fibres and/or recycled fibres, the rest coming from controlled origin fibres and/or pre-consumer recycled fibres.
WHY DID EURODIVIDERS CHOOSE FSC CERTIFICATION?
Of course paper is our raw material and we respect it. Did you know that Eurodividers recycles its industrial waste? But we want to have an even greater impact on the environment.
The fibres used in recycled paper cannot be recycled indefinitely: after 5 to 7 recycles, they become too short and it is necessary to add virgin fibres, which are longer, in order to obtain good paper. In order to perpetuate a fair recycling of paper it is important to preserve the renewal cycle of the trees from which the virgin fibres come.
FSC has rigorous standards, is a respected, credible brand.
The FSC-CoC (Chain of Custody) guarantees the origin of the product with confidence: all companies in the chain between the forest and the customer have an FSC certificate.
By certifying our dividers, honeycomb plates and GraphiLite® boards as FSC-certified, we are committing ourselves to the values of FSC.
WHICH EURODIVIDERS PRODUCTS ARE FSC CERTIFIED?
All our products are certified FSC mix:
- Dividers, to separate/protect your products for storage or transport
- Honeycomb boards (plates, dies, slit, runners, wedges…): multifunctional packaging solutions
